Spain's performance was poor and leads me to pose the question whether their reign as Champions has come to an end. My observations are as follows:-
: The first goal was a defensive blunder. The high ball left Abeloa floundering and then Casillas was too slow to dive on the loose ball.
: Where was Xavi during the match - we saw so little of him - one of the play makers of Spain absent?
: Iniesta worked the ball along the left but did not create any dangerous plays.
: The Spanish control and passing is great to watch - but if it is all lateral play then there is no danger. The forwards rarely took a shot at goal. All possession without shots at goal is not the formula for winning.
: Winners have to score goals. Its as simple as that. And what was Ramos doing taking a penalty when the forwards were there.
: The Spanish defence were flatfooted and slow. They didn't pick up their man nor could they match the speed, agility and skill of the Brazilian forwardline.
I am sad to see the Spanish side crumble so easily.
Maybe we saw the next World Champion - Brazil.
